Sheldon Beddo is the Director of Operations for AT-RISK International. He oversees client operations globally to maintain the integrity of the company’s unique approach to engagements and continuity of operational standards.
Mr. Beddo is a corporate security, law enforcement and national security professional with over 29 years of experience leading investigations, operations, intelligence teams and program management. He has devoted his professional life to the safety, security and protection of people, programs and companies.
From 2015 through 2018 Mr. Beddo was the Senior Program Manager and Threat Manager of the Protective Intelligence program at Microsoft. He built an industry-leading program that applied a behavior-based approach to protective investigations and threat assessment focused on threats and inappropriate communications toward Microsoft’s senior executives and Board of Directors. Additionally, Mr. Beddo directed the executive mail screening program to identify and mitigate risks from suspicious packages and substances.
Mr. Beddo entered the corporate security industry in 2015 following his 26-year career in federal law enforcement as a Special Agent with the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS). As a Special Agent, he led criminal, counterintelligence, and counterterrorism investigations and operations as well as protective operations on a global scale. He held key leadership positions, including the Assistant Special Agent in Charge for the Northwest Field office, Division Chief in the National Security Directorate, and Deputy Director of the DoD Strategic Counterintelligence Directorate, Afghanistan. He also served as the Personal Security Advisor to the Commander of U.S. and NATO forces in Afghanistan and was Resident Agent in Charge of the DoD Criminal Investigative Task Force (CITF) in Iraq and Guantanamo Bay, Cuba where he led teams investigating terrorism and war crimes in support of the Office of Military Commissions.
Mr. Beddo is committed to information sharing and is actively engaged in the threat assessment and security industries. He is the author of an article appearing in the Journal of Threat Assessment and Management (JTAM) about escalation and concerning approaches toward corporate executives. He is a member of the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals (ATAP), the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association, the Association of International Risk Intelligence Professionals, and the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP). He holds leadership positions as the Treasurer of the ATAP Northwest chapter, and Vice President of the FOP Evergreen Lodge. Mr. Beddo is also a Certified Threat Manager through ATAP.
