Senior-Level Biosecurity Subject Matter Expert

Location: Lorton, Virginia
Reports to: Executive Director of Operations

Description

The successful candidate will possess the ability to provide technical assessments of foreign countries’ capabilities to securely handle, store, transport, diagnose and report outbreaks involving pathogens/diseases of security concern.

Duties
  • Advise and assist client program management personnel on their related technical field
  • Work collaboratively with a team of technical subject mater experts (science, disease surveillance, biosafety and biosecurity) and project managers
Responsibilities
  • Conduct interviews related to and provide vulnerability assessments of biocontainment laboratories, security of scientific and public health programs, biosecurity laws and regulations, and biosecurity management systems and culture of foreign countries
  • Write reports on outcomes of assessments of biosecurity programs and systems
  • Make recommendations for improvement of biosecurity programs and systems

  • Comprehends U.S. Cooperative Threat Reduction programs
  • Displays experience performing safety, security and vulnerability/risk assessments
Experience

Suitable candidate must have demonstrated previous employment history including experience working in biological laboratories or knowledge of security measures applicable to biological laboratories. Additionally, candidate has knowledge of/familiarity with international biosecurity guidance doctrine and possesses a minimum of 4 years of experience in related field, BA/BS in biological sciences or related discipline and secret security clearance. Consulting and international work experience also required.

General Requirements

Individual will be required to travel overseas 25-30%.
